Huh.
So I'm back to normality - this Monday was supposed to be the return to all things sane. Well, actually, LAST Monday was supposed to be the return to all things sane; but the world, my schedule, and fate seem to be conspiring against me.
I spent 10 days in Florida, relaxing in the sun and visiting The Most Heavily Marketed Place on Earth - i.e. Disney. I swear you couldn't swing a dead tinkerbell over your head without breaking some expensive Disney-themed merchandise. Despite this, I had a blast. Epcot, the Magic Kingdom, and Sea World were visited, many rides were ridden, many many unbelieveable meals were eaten, and a beautiful and really very tasteful wedding was attended - in all a wonderful trip.
And quite a bit warmer than it is here. Then on to Rochester, Minn. for a couple of days with the boyfriend for his interview at Mayo and then back here on Friday in the nick of time to get to a meeting about my class next quarter.
I could relate to you the terrors of the Rochester subway/skyway downtown system, the day when I spent 10 hours sitting on the floor of the Orlando International Airport, or possibly how I ate marzipans with the boyfriend on the sidewalk outside an outlet mall in Orange County whilst trying to flip a bottle cap into a crack in the pavement for 2 hours - but I fear that these things are really only interesting to me.
Today was profitably spent working - as was yesterday. Today the diet has also been reinstated after its all-too-long hiatus.
The clothes which I refuse to unpack still smell like the humid tropical air.
My kitchen smells of pot roast (cooking all day).
My bathroom smells of clean cashmere and baby shampoo (with which I have been washing).
My dining room smells of Elmer's Glue (with which I have been making presents)
My desk smells of chocolate from the advent calendar my sister sent me in the mail.
The air outside smells of crisp December.
Ah, to be back in the Midwest.
