Done!

Well, not done done, but doneish.

(sung to the tune of "Jingle Bells")

Dashing from the Reg, and running to my home.
Preceptees are gaining, but I reach the car alone.
Slam the icy door, gun the engine, go.
I skid out of my parking space and fly off through the snow.

Grading done, Lots of fun, it's been every day.
Incorrectly syntaxed words of freshman gone away.

Done with class, boredom passed, seminars are done.
Gone are office hours treating papers ill begun.

I thought it would not end, my quarter filled with work
My dissertation paused until I thought I'd go bezerk.
But now the break has come, and I have time to spare
For proposal and for chapter and advisors in my hair.

Christmas break, Christmas break, I'm not going home.
Hiding from the family and working all alone.
Thrifting runs, lots of fun, hanging with my sis
'Til the quarter starts again I'll be in perfect bliss.

Being stuck here in the Reg, waiting for the preceptees to arrive although they are now an hour late has apparently inspired me to bad parody. My apologies.

In all, I have plans for this winter break. They involve spinning wool into thread (no, seriously), finally cleaning the apartment (no, seriously), and getting some work done on the dissertation (it's a little worrisome that I feel the need to write "no, seriously" here as well). I find that not working on my dissertation is actually ultimately causing me more anxiety than working on it. I never felt so much like an academic as when I noticed that little personality quirk.

I will also, hopefully, have a chance to get my random teaching materials together in some kind of order so that I don't have to rewrite them all the time.

So with big plans for this month (y'all are implied in the thrifting/ eating / fun-having, by the way) which I have now written down (and thus have to stick to) I hereby begin my holiday season.

Perhaps I will go play on ebay.
