WOW.

Does anyone else find this highly, even horrifyingly, disturbing?

http://www.cartier.com/en/Creation,B6016216

Now, if you read the description and follow the little links on the left, you are forced to encounter a kind of really distressingly misled Story-of-O-esque somehow socially legitimate form of visible bondage.

Now I'm not saying that I'm against bondage in the fun sense, but I get the feeling that there are a lot of people out there who have no idea the valences of meaning that are attached to the idea of SCREWING A BRACELET ONTO YOUR LOVED ONE'S WRIST FOREVER LIKE A HANDCUFF. And these people wander the planet totally oblivious to the horrifying multiple (and not so nice) meanings that they are attaching to their relationship.

Since 1970. Which is a whole secondary backlash against free love.

And, not without a little cringe did I find that this same motif is also available in ring sizes - wedding ring sizes.

Now, some of you may be thinking (hell, it's just a bracelet). And that may be true. But let's just think about the material a moment.

Gold, right? Ok.
Silver? Still ok.
What if it were stainless steel? Fine.
Steel? Er...
Iron? An Iron bracelet with a key that someone else has and you can't take it off without their help?

Yikes.

Bad weeks.

Ok, so the past two weeks have been very bad.

I can't really go into details on the internet, but it is full-blown family craptacularness. On my end this has resulted positively in getting to spend more time with my fantastic sister, but crappily in having to spend more time being criticized by my mother. And 10 pounds. And stress. And anger -- boiling, seething anger.

And to avoid the badness I have resorted to thrifting (time honored non-guilty pleasure)

I have purchased in the past two weeks:

- a mint green skirt
- a sexy pair of vintage brown heels
- a pair of earth shoes
- a pair of jeans
- 3 polos of various types
- a tinkerbell t-shirt
- 2 blazers
- a pair of shoes that I bought and then discarded
- sunglasses
- nearly a tiara
- a purse
- a tiffin (no kidding)
- a few shirts

I'm pretty sure that there's more, but I can't really remember. Today I'm going to spend the day commenting on my preceptees' paper drafts and collecting applications for summer jobs.

My tiffin shines like the sun as it has been through about 6 random polishings.

My sister and I also purchased matching rings... which are pretty darn cool http://www.justmetal.com/storefront/product_info.php?products_id=228

I tried mine on, and I look like a badass. Ok, maybe not a badass... more of a semi-badass with a swanky titanium ring.

I will try to post more often.

Really.
